Rendlesham Community Centre is a well‑used village asset serving more than 200 residents across Rendlesham and the surrounding areas.

It is a key part of the community, supporting parents and children, youth activities, senior programmes, fitness classes, local events and the popular social club.

Facing unprecedented rising operational costs, the team in Rendlesham were eager for the community centre to become more self-sufficient, so looked to local businesses to help them achieve that goal.

In partnership with the community centre, GTS (Green Technology Solutions), which is part of the DPL Group, installed a state-of-the-art solar panel solution, which since switch-on on January 30 has generated more than 1,450kWh of electricity – the equivalent to 25% of the power used by the centre.

A second installation of solar panels at The Jubilee Park Pavilion has also generated a further 360kW of electricity.

This project reflects what can be achieved when organisations come together for a shared purpose – to reduce environmental impact, drive community resilience and champion innovation with renewable energy solutions.

This important project will give the team at Rendlesham the ability to invest more in what matters most, supporting the community and people who live there.
